A new public transportation option is coming to the central Kenai Peninsula, as the Kenaitze Indian Tribe prepares to launch Kahtnu Area Transit this December.
The service, overseen by Kenaitze Transportation Manager Brandi Bell, officially begins December 10, marking the first fixed-route bus system operated by the Tribe.
Kahtnu Area Transit was established to address the limited transportation options available to both Tribal members and the broader community. The Kenaitze Indian Tribe was federally recognized in 1971 and today serves more than 2,100 Tribal members while employing more than 430 people across the region.
