A 27-year-old man was fatally shot by police officers Sunday in Chambers County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency identified the slain suspect as Jaja Davis Jr. He was 27 and lived in Lanett.

The incident was one of three officer involved shootings statewide over the weekend.

ALEA Capt. Jeremy Burkett said Davis was killed when officers from the Lanett Police Department and the Auburn Police Department who are assigned to the U.S. Marshal’s task force tried to take Davis into custody.

Davis was wanted for discharging a firearm into an occupied. That charge stemmed from an earlier incident in which Davis fired into a Lanett police patrol vehicle, Burkett said.
