SUAMICO, Wis. (WBAY) - NEW Zoo & Adventure Park is displaying metal snowflakes created by 80 students from Ashwaubenon High School as part of their holiday decorations this month.
Three tech education classes at the high school used donated metal to design, weld and create the snowflakes over several weeks. The project allowed students to apply classroom skills to a community project.
“It just really made a really good experience for all of us to get out of the classroom with our normal projects, and just help the community a little bit,” said Jaclyn Luby, a student at Ashwaubenon High School.
The snowflakes will be featured in NEW Zoo’s “Merry and Bright Canopy Lights” event.
Ten snowflakes will be on display, ranging from 2.5 feet to 6.5 feet tall and covered in Christmas lights.
