MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Wisconsin election observers who are removed from polling sites must be given a written order explaining why they are being rejected, according to the Wisconsin Elections Commission.
On Tuesday, the bipartisan commission confirmed the requirement as part of ongoing efforts to share clear rules for election observers ahead of the state’s busy election cycle.
“I think that’s important that the person hands them that when they are removed,” said Bob Spindell, a Wisconsin Elections Commission member. “You know, the purpose of that is if they have any problems, they can go to their particular Democrat or Republican Party attorney and show that.”
The Commission hopes to finalize an observer brochure by February to allow poll workers and observers to understand the rules
