The areas of Scotland with the highest rates of crime have been revealed by the Scottish Government. Topping the list is a major city, and it is neither Edinburgh or Glasgow. ‌

On Tuesday, November 25, the Scottish Government shared its Recorded Crime in Scotland report for the year ending September 2025. The report details the number of crimes and offences recorded by the police in Scotland . ‌

The report reveals that police in Scotland recorded 305,925 crimes in the year ending September 2025. This is a two per cent rise from the 300,136 crimes recorded in the year ending September 2024, and three per cent higher than the 297,712 crimes recorded in the year ending September 2021. ‌
