The Scottish Government has unveiled the regions of Scotland with the highest crime rates, and surprisingly, neither Glasgow or Edinburgh tops the list. The government has released its Recorded Crime in Scotland report for the year ending September 2025, providing a detailed breakdown of crimes and offences logged by the police across the country.
The report discloses that a total of 305,925 crimes were recorded by Police Scotland in the year ending September 2025, marking a two per cent increase from the 300,136 crimes documented in the previous year, and a three per cent rise from the 297,712 crimes noted in the year ending September 2021.
