ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Gainesville City Schools is fighting back after more than three dozen football players were suspended after a brawl during their game against Brunswick High School.
A total of 39 Gainesville players were suspended by the GHSA.
The high school appealed the decision, resulting in a virtual hearing on Tuesday morning during which the board rescinded the suspensions for players Xavier Griffin (Alabama-commit), Jamarion Matthews (Alabama-commit), Jamarus Sims and Roger Holder.
Gainesville said they accept the GHSA’s ruling but not the number of suspensions. The school said they want the GHSA to look at each video, go player by player to access what each did and if it warrants a suspension.
