There’s an organized system to the puppy chaos.
First, volunteers from Pile of Puppies , a beneficiary of The Oregonian/OregonLive’s 2025 Season of Sharing holiday fundraising campaign, connect with a trusted breeder. True to its name, the Beaverton-based nonprofit seeks to uplift chronically or terminally ill children by organizing visits with oodles of young dogs.
There’s a small window, typically between 5 and 12 weeks old, during which puppies can be whisked away for a surprise visit, so planning begins months in advance.
