New York City residents will not have trash, curbside composting or recycling pickup on Thanksgiving, the city Department of Sanitation announced.
The department will suspend all collection services on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, in observance of the holiday.
Residents who normally have Thursday trash or curbside composting collection can place their materials at the curb Thursday evening for pickup beginning Friday, Nov. 28.
For recycling, the schedule differs. Residents who typically have Thursday paper and metal, glass, plastic and carton recycling collection should hold their materials for a week. They can place recyclables at the curb on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 3, for collection starting Thursday, Dec. 4.
