Vincent Chandler will be playing at Lucille’s Jazz Lounge on Friday. Chandler is a trombonist and educator from the Detroit area who has studied under or performed with many regional jazz greats, including Donald Walden, Kenn Cox, Harold McKinney, Teddy Harris, Marcus Belgrave, Matt Michaels, Francisco Mora, Eddie Nuccilli, Wendell Harrison, Spencer Barefield, Ronald Kischuk, James Carter, Marion Hayden, Regina Carter, and Rodney Whitaker. Chandler is a graduate of the University of Michigan and is on the faculty at Wayne State University where he holds the title “assistant professor of teaching in jazz studies, jazz trombone.” He also received the prestigious Kresge Arts Fellowship in 2020.
