Gusty winds have arrived in southeast Michigan, along with power outages.
DTE Energy’s online outage map shows more than 4,700 customers have lost service, which represents fewer than 1% of the utility’s more-than 2.2 million customers. More than half of the outages are in Fraser, south of 15 Mile Road on either side of Utica Road.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory until 4 a.m. Thursday and predicts gusts could reach 45 mph. That, coupled with freezing rain and snow, could disrupt service to more customers. The forecast calls for up to an inch of snow, but more could fall in some areas.
DTE Energy’s key safety tip is to stay at least 25 feet away from a downed power line and assume all downed lines are live and dangerou
