An 81-year-old man has died following a fire inside his Red Lion mobile home on the evening of Nov. 25, the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office said.

Officials have not identified the man, but said they are investigating what caused the house fire located in the first block of N. Dragon Drive in the Kingsmill community.

"He was a perfect neighbor," the man's next-door neighbor told a Delaware Online/The News Journal reporter.

The neighbor said he'd check in on her to make sure she was doing fine or if there was something she needed.

The fire was reported about 7:30 p.m. according to the Delaware City Fire Company's online response log, which described it as a "structure fire non-residential." By 7:56 p.m., the fire was logged in as a structure fire with entrapment.
