KENT COUNTY, Mich. —

The Marine Corps recruiter accused of breaking into a Rockford area home in June 2024 and stabbing an 11-year-old girl during a sleepover will spend years in prison for the assault.

Ricardo Perez Castillo pleaded no contest to assault with intent to murder, first degree home invasion, and second degree criminal sexual conduct. He was sentenced to 225 months to 40 years in prison for the assault charge, seven to 20 for home invasion, and one and a half to five years for CSC. He must also register as a sex offender.

The incident happened Saturday, June 15, 2024. According to court documents, it began when Castillo broke into a Rockford home in the 100 block of Oak Street.
