DES MOINES, Iowa —
An Albia man faces additional charges, including vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, following a deadly motorcycle crash that killed a Des Moines East High School student in September.
Kaelin Meinders, 23, had previously been charged with reckless driving, driving while barred and no insurance, causing a crash.

Deputies say Meinders was riding a motorcycle when he crashed into 15-year-old Santiago “Santi” Rhone in the 4900 block of Northeast 29th Street, just southeast of the East Mixmaster. Rhone was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries.
