KINGSTON, N.Y. — Veteran Kingston High girls basketball coach Steve Garner has a simple goal for his Tigers in the upcoming 2025-26 season. He wants them to get back into the Section 9 Class AAA playoffs.

The Tigers, who open the season at Minisink Valley High on Monday, Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m., didn’t qualify for the playoffs following a 6-14 campaign a year ago.

Even though the Tigers didn’t win a game in Division I of the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) last season, Garner petitioned Section 9 officials to get into the playoffs anyway because he thought the experience would be good for his young team.
