SCHENECTADY – Instead of Rudolph’s nose, it was men from a red-lighted fire truck who saved Santa from a dark ride at the Schenectady County Holiday Parade on Saturday.

Minutes after Santa's arrival and before climbing into his high perch to make the trip down State Street past thousands of waiting fans, Santa's sleigh went dark.
