WYTHEVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - Wythe County has been gearing up for the holiday weekend and the influx of travelers it brings to the area. Thanksgiving weekend is always the busiest time of the year here in the county, with drivers coming on and off of Interstates 81 and 77. With the influx of people passing through, the county is taking steps to make sure drivers are as safe as possible.
“To prepare for the influx of travelers, Wythe County Emergency Services has partnered with our volunteer fire departments to make sure that we are staffed up. I know that the Town of Wytheville Fire and Rescue has done the same, so we’ve got extra trucks, extra people, and we’re prepared for whatever comes at us,” said Wythe County Public Information Officer Allyson Williams.
