LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
As the need for food assistance continues across Louisville, community members big and small are lending a hand.
Alexus Richardson with Dare to Care said they have received a $10,000 donation from the UPS Foundation to help battle food insecurity in the community.
The community has also stepped up, according to Richardson, donating more than 7 million meals between Oct. 1 and Nov. 21. For comparison, in that time frame last year, 2.5 million meals were donated.
"There was a need before [SNAP benefits were paused], and that need hasn't just gone away with SNAP reopening. We're still dealing with that," Richardson said. "But because of so much community support, we are able to purchase more food and be able to get more food out into the community."
