COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man accused of assaulting a nurse at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center appeared in court Wednesday.

Asiakare Minor, 31, is charged with strangulation and abduction.

A judge set a $5,000 recognizance bond and a $100,000 assurance.

Surveillance video from Nov. 6 shows Minor engaging in what a hospital spokesperson described as “disruptive behavior” while holding a newborn. The footage shows Minor pulling a nurse by her shirt collar. The hospital said staff de-escalated the situation and the baby was unharmed.

Angela Justice, a nurse who said she is close with the victim, attended the hearing.

“She’s one of the strongest women I know, and to see her so broken down … it hurts,” Justice said.
