COLUMBUS, Ohio — The night before Thanksgiving is traditionally one of the busiest travel days of the year, but several passengers flying into John Glenn Columbus International Airport on Wednesday said the trip was far smoother than expected — despite a record number of travelers on the move nationwide.
AAA predicts nearly 82 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home over the Thanksgiving holiday, the highest ever recorded for this time of year. That’s 1.6 million more travelers than last year. In Ohio alone, 3.4 million people are expected to travel, a 2% increase from two years ago. Nationwide, more than 6 million people are flying this week, including nearly 300,000 Ohioans.
Shelby Friemoth, who arrived from San Diego, summed up her travel day as “amazingly easy.”
