EUGENE, Ore. - Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology has been making a significant impact on law enforcement efforts in Eugene.
According to the Eugene Police Department, the system has been instrumental in 64 investigations, leading to 43 arrests, with 84 percent of these being felony offenses. The ALPR system has been used to solve a variety of crimes, including homicides, arsons, and stolen vehicles. It also supports Amber Alert investigations, providing real-time alerts to law enforcement when a license plate linked to a crime is detected.
