In the grand scheme of things, Cheyenne East junior Maggie Madsen had a down year.
She was able to participate in only four of East’s regular-season meets due to a left hip injury she suffered earlier in the season.
Yet, even a down year for Madsen is one that many cross-country athletes would love to have.
While her sample size was limited during the regular season, she made the most of every opportunity. Of the four regular-season meets she participated in, she won three of them and placed top 15 in the prestigious Liberty Bell Invitational.
She started the year off at the Wyoming Invitational at Little America Golf Course, where she took first with a time of 19 minutes, 0.85 seconds — nearly 30 seconds faster than second place. She then competed in the Liberty Bell Invite in Littlet
