Oregon running backs coach Ra’Shaad Samples is a candidate for the head coaching job at North Texas.
The American conference school has expressed interest in Samples, a source with knowledge of the matter told The Oregonian/OregonLive.
Samples, 30, has been widely mentioned as a potential candidate for the Mean Green since Eric Morris was hired at Oklahoma State earlier this week.
Samples is from Dallas and has worked as running backs coach at TCU (2021) and SMU (2019-21) and as a staffer at Texas (2018) and Houston (2016-17). He was running backs coach for the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, then the NFL’s youngest position coach, and spent a season coaching receivers at Arizona State before being hired at Oregon.
