EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - (Note this is the report from June. Information has since changed, and Stafford’s charges have been dismissed.)

A Louisville man is in custody after being involved in a crash that left one person dead in Evansville Monday afternoon.

Deputies say 24-year-old Malik Stafford was arrested on charges stemming from that accident on N. St. Joseph Avenue.

He was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail Thursday and is being held without bond.

Investigators determined a box truck driven by Stafford crossed the center line and struck an SUV head-on.

The driver of the SUV, 31-year-old Maria Guetling , died in that crash.

Authorities say her child sustained only minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
