MASON, Mich. (WILX) -Tree farms across the area saw busy crowds as families ventured out to select their Christmas trees for the holiday season.
Visitors walked through Tanenbaum Farms to hand-pick and cut down their own trees. The farm offers hundreds of spruce, white pine, Scotch pine, and fir trees for customers to choose from.
Jason Buher, owner of Tanenbaum Farms, said buying a natural tree from a local farm provides environmental benefits over artificial alternatives.
“Michigan is actually number three in the nation for Christmas tree production and a local choose and cut farm helps the environment from the standpoint of all these trees convert carbon dioxide back into oxygen and there’s no pop plastics or anything like that that are out here,” Buher said. “And it also creates tra
