BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man has been sentenced to one year in federal prison after admitting he planned to use stolen U.S. Postal Service arrow keys to illegally access mail receptacles.

Fortino Pilier, 28, was sentenced on Monday, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a news release. Pilier will also serve three years of supervised release following the sentence handed down by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.

Prosecutors said Pilier was arrested on Oct. 23, 2024 , after Erie County Sheriff's deputies pulled over a vehicle. Pilier was a passenger.

Pilier fled the scene, but was apprehended shortly after and arrested. Erie County Sheriff's Office deputies searched Pilier and found two U.S. Postal Service arrow keys in his pocket. Arrow keys provide access to authorized mail re
