A New York State Park Police officer was injured after their patrol vehicle was struck from behind by an alleged drunk driver on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Bear Mountain State Park, authorities said.
According to Park Police, the incident happened over the weekend of Nov. 22, when the marked and occupied patrol car was hit by another driver while pulled over to help a disabled vehicle.
The impact injured the officer, who suffered minor injuries, authorities said.
The driver who rear-ended the police vehicle was taken into custody at the scene and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to Park Police.
No additional details about the driver or the disabled vehicle were immediately released.
