A group of 16, called the Road Race Ruckers, will be walking 31 miles to raise money for veterans.

Rucking is a form of military training that includes walking or hiking while carrying a weighted rucksack.

"On Thanksgiving, there's just so many military members who aren't able to be home with their family," Melissa Koneski, one of the leaders of Road Race Ruckers, said. "I think oftentimes we just kind of lose sight of the sacrifices that they make for us, for our nation."

The group is trying to raise $12,000 for the Fischer House Foundation, a nonprofit that provides free homes for veterans.

This year, they’re honoring those who served in the Vietnam War.
