WARRENTON, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Providing a safe harbor is the mission of Anchor House in Warrenton, and that’s especially needed as the temperatures dip to below freezing on Wednesday and in the coming days.
The Anchor House’s new Liberty Belle facility is a key to achieving that. Construction on the building was completed this summer. Wednesday afternoon, it opened as a 24-hour warming shelter in Warren County for people experiencing homelessness and will do so when low temperatures drop to 32 degrees and below.
It’s in an area with few other options. In Wright City, Immanuel UCC opens a warming shelter when the temperature reaches 20 degrees and below overnight.
“One thing that we want more than anything is somewhere for people to stay safe and warm,” said Angie Light, Anchor
