The Scottish Government has called for a review into introducing a national prostate cancer screening programme, as pressure mounts on Westminster to act.
Finance Secretary Shona Robison confirmed that Scotland’s Health Secretary, Neil Gray , has written to the UK National Screening Committee urging it to examine whether a full screening programme should be introduced.
It comes after more than 120 MPs, including former prime minister Rishi Sunak, signed a cross-party letter to UK Health Secretary Wes Streeting calling for screening for men most at risk of the disease. The UK Government is expected to make an announcement on prostate screening before the end of the month.
