COLUMBUS, Ohio — As many central Ohioans participate in turkey trots before Thanksgiving dinner, local charities are counting their blessings for the extra support.

"I've been in this job 24 years, the need for food has never been greater in my 24 years than it is right now!" said Chuck Gehring, president of LifeCare Alliance.

The 11th annual Thanks for Giving 4-miler in New Albany is one of the many Thanksgiving runs benefitting local charities.

LifeCare Alliance, along with the Mid-Ohio Food Collective and the New Albany Thanksgiving Day Fund at the New Albany Community Foundation, are the three organizations benefiting from the donation-based four-mile run.
