COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person was critically injured after they were assaulted on a COTA bus in east Columbus on Wednesday, police said.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers were called to the intersection of Cassady Avenue and Airport Drive around 5:40 p.m. on a report of a fight on a bus. Officers found an adult victim who was allegedly assaulted by another passenger.
The victim was taken to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in critical condition. Because of the severe nature of the victim’s injuries, the homicide unit is investigating, police said.
The suspect, 54-year-old Robert Salley, was taken into custody nearby after the incident. Police said Salley and the victim knew each other and the assault occurred during an altercation.
