A woman in her 90s suffered a serious injury in a crash which saw a man arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

The woman was a passenger of a VW Beetle which crashed with a BMW around 12.30pm on Wednesday, November 26, on the A182, Dawdon Link Road in Seaham.

The pensioner suffered a serious injury to her back and remains in hospital.

Durham Police said a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and officers have now launched an appeal for information.

Two ambulances were sent to the scene.
