MIDLAND, MI -- Greater Michigan Construction Academy will host a local craft competition on Monday, Dec. 1, offering the public a free opportunity to watch the next generation of skilled tradespeople demonstrate their abilities.

Ten students from GMCA will compete in four trade areas at the Midland location, 7730 W. Wackely St. The competitors will tackle electrical, carpentry, HVAC and pipefitting challenges as they vie for a chance to advance to a national competition.

The competition consists of a one-hour written exam followed by a three-hour project performance test. Judges will evaluate students on safety, quality of workmanship, project layout, use of materials, assembly of components, project sequence, ability to follow instructions, timeliness and accuracy.
