A collision in West Lothian saw emergency services race to the scene on Thursday afternoon. At around 1.30pm, a multi-vehicle incident triggered delays for M8 drivers.

The collision blocked the westbound lane at Bathgate and 'stopped traffic' due to being in the roadworks area. Police were on the scene.

An image shows drivers lined up behind the collision as officers attend. The collision of those involved is not currently known.

At around 1.30pm, Traffic Scotland said: "The M8 is currently blocked westbound at Bathgate due to a multi vehicle collision.

"Incident is stopping traffic flow as it is in the roadworks area. Traffic is building quickly as a result with delays expected. Updates to follow."

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
