BOSTON —
As part of an annual tradition, thousands of holiday meals were prepared at the Pine Street Inn on Thursday morning.
An assembly line of politicians, professional athletes, and volunteers came together to arrange meals for those in shelters and on the streets.
"We’ll serve about 2,000 meals today, and that’s 120 turkeys, 1000 lbs. of mashed potatoes, 140 lbs. of stuffing, and 250 lbs. of cranberry sauce," said Lyndia Downie, president of the Pine Street Inn.
Instead of carving turkeys this year, volunteers packed outreach bags that will be distributed throughout the city on Thursday night.
"This will make sure that every single person, wherever they are, has something to nourish them and a warm human connection to say we’re here and we’re ready, we want to help," said Boston
