Columbia police arrested a North Carolina man Wednesday who is suspected of stealing from ATMs, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

Multiple police departments from other states told Columbia police that the man is suspected in connection to ATM "jackpotting" incidents. "Jackpotting" is a type of attack on an ATM and its software that causes the machine to dispense large amounts of cash to an unauthorized person.

Pennsylvania State Police told the Columbia Police Department that the suspect had stopped in Columbia, according to the news release. Columbia police said detectives found and arrested the suspect at a short-term rental.
