Play was halted at Villa Park after Aston Villa scored their second goal against BSC Young Boys.
Donyell Malen scored both of Villa’s goals and had objects thrown at him by the Young Boys fans after his first.
He and several Villa teammates were struck by missiles, with Malen appearing to suffer a cut to his head.
Fifteen minutes after his opener, Malen added his and Villa’s second of the night after receiving a pass from Morgan Rogers.
Following Malen’s knee-slide celebration, Young Boys captain Loris Benito approached the away fans and appeared to plead with them to calm down. However, some refused to listen and began fighting among themselves.
As police and stewards attempted to restore order, drinks and ripped-out seats were thrown down at them.
