BEDFORD — The Purdue Extension of Lawrence County is bringing back its holiday community service project, aiming to gather filled Christmas stockings for local shelters and residents in need.
After what the organization described as strong participation last year, Extension officials announced that donations of stockings — filled or empty — as well as individual items will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 19, at 4 p.m. Items must be new and unexpired.
Stockings may be prepared for any age or gender, but organizers request that each one be clearly labeled, such as “adult male” or “child female,” to assist with sorting.
Suggested items include basic hygiene supplies such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, lotion, razors, lip balm, and alcohol-free mouthwa
