A Kitchener driver was dinged by officers after a hit on the automated licence plate recognition system in Woolwich, police say.

Officers reported Thursday they stopped a vehicle on Arthur Street South, during targeted traffic enforcement, and by using the recognition technology, found a driver with no valid plate and no insurance.

The driver had previously been charged twice this year for the same offences, police said.

The driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance and driving without a validated permit.

The vehicle was towed.
