Delays in a 12-year-old boy's autism diagnosis did not contribute to his death, a coroner has concluded. It came after the inquest heard he more than likely did not intend to take his own life.

Riley Townsend, from Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, tragically took his own life in September last year. Riley was due to start a new term at Ashfield School on September 3, 2024, after a managed move from his former school Quarrydale Academy, where he was "unsettled" and excluded a number of times due to his behaviour. His family had been trying to get him an autism diagnosis for three years when he died on September 1, 2024, NottinghamshireLive reports.
