WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - This Thanksgiving, the Salvation Army is thankful for community, thankful for the means to help others, and very thankful for its volunteers.
Those volunteers who take time away from their families to make sure strangers have a good meal. Volunteers like 15-year-old Nadji Booker, who has helped out during the Salvation Army’s annual Thanksgiving dinner since he was 4 years old, and has gotten to know the volunteers and several of the Thanksgiving meal regulars over the years.
“Everybody almost, like we all know each other, kind of, so it’s kind of like family,” said Booker.
Booker was one of around 100 other volunteers this Thanksgiving. He spent the morning waiting on walk-in eaters, something he’s glad to have been doing for nearly a decade.
