NORFOLK, Va. — All four military aid societies are teaming up and looking for your help this holiday season.

This is part of an annual attempt to raise money on “Giving Tuesday” in support of service members into the new year.

This year will officially be the fourth year in a row the societies have grouped together to raise these funds, and with a rising cost of living, along with the recent government shutdown, some leaders for the organizations argue that this year's funding is critical.

Retired Lieutenant General Robert Ruark served in the military for more than 30 years, but now, as CEO of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, he has a new mission.
