NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man was charged with harboring or hiding a runaway juvenile in Nashville.

On Nov. 26, officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to the Motel 6 at 323 Carwright Street to help the Hendersonville Police detectives with a runaway juvenile.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the runaway juvenile with 21-year-old Matthew Merritt.

Officers said they had recorded phone calls made to Merritt while he was in the Trousdale County Jail. Merritt and the juvenile were reportedly planning on meeting up and running away to Florida.

Merritt was detained and officers found three baggies of what officials believe was methamphetamine. Officers also searched their car and found a scale, clear baggies and other paraphernalia.
