Two crashes occurred in South Brunswick on Thanksgiving Eve within less than two hours, one of them fatal.

At 4:24 p.m., South Brunswick police, the Monmouth Junction Fire Department and South Brunswick EMS responded to a three-vehicle wreck on New Road between Route 522 and Route 1, where a 61-year-old woman died, officials said.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and other law enforcement agencies are investigating.

“We extend our heartfelt sorrow to the family and friends of the resident who passed away,” South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka said in a statement. “We will continue to work with the prosecutor’s office to investigate all the details.”
