StormTeam 5 is tracking a cross-country storm that will impact post-Thanksgiving travel this weekend.

Widespread moderate to heavy snow is forecast from Montana to the Great Lakes, where 6 to 12 inches of snow will be possible late Friday through Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued winter storm alerts across much of the northern and central Plains, including major cities like Chicago, Sioux City, IA, and through the Dakotas and Montana.

As much as 6-12 inches of snow is forecast in parts of the Plains. Major impacts to both air and road travel will be likely.
