WILLOUGHBY, Ohio (WOIO) - Cold weather and snow created slick road conditions for Thanksgiving travelers Thursday, prompting drivers to reduce speeds and take extra safety measures.
The weather didn’t stop people like Robert Marrott from reaching their holiday destinations.
“Going to my sister’s… the classics… don’t want to fill up on appetizers,” Marrott said while stopping for gas before hitting the road.
Despite the conditions, Marrott remained optimistic about his travel plans.
“The weather’s bad today, but that’s ok,” he said.
Traffic slows on major highways
Thursday’s conditions slowed traffic across major highways, especially east of Cleveland. Lake-effect snow is expected to continue through Friday.
Marrott and other drivers said they planned to drive cautiously.
