ST PAUL, Minn. — A long-standing tradition born 92 years ago in St. Paul carries on this Thanksgiving.
Every year on this day, two local families, the Battis and Bohens, compete in their own 'Turkey Bowl.'
The neighborhood football game started in 1933 when the Battis' grandmother kicked her eight kids out of the home as she was cooking the turkey. The Battis kids then met up with the Bohen kids and ever since the two families have played in their own Turkey Bowl.
The tradition solidified once two of the kids grew up and got married.
No one keeps score; the families say this game is less of a competition and more of a family legacy, honoring all those who've played.
