The Société de transport de Montréal says it expects to continue bus and métro service during a new overtime strike by its maintenance workers’ union planned for Dec. 9 to Jan. 11.

But, it warned on Thursday, “given the announced duration of the strike, it could cause a shortage of vehicles and thus lead to the cancellation of departures or a reduction in service hours.”

Quebec’s labour tribunal still needs to determine the minimum level of essential services to be maintained despite the overtime strike.

Adapted transit would not be affected by the strike, the STM said.
