SHREVEPORT, La. - As families get together for the Thanksgiving holiday, one family is especially thankful for a new home.
The Souter family, from Taylor, Arkansas, was the first family to move into the new Ronald McDonald house in Shreveport. Their daughter, Remi, was born premature - at 23 weeks, one pound, and one ounce.
The new three-story house opened on October 28 and is already half full. It is located on the campus of Willis Knighton South at 9100 Susan Drive in Shreveport. It serves as a respite for families with seriously ill or injured children in any of the local hospitals.
The facility and its amenities are free to families who have an ill or injured child in a local hospital. There are 20 family suites, daily meals and snacks, laundry facilities, indoor and or activity spa
